4.5 liters to fluid ounces

Hey there! Today we’re going to learn about liters and fluid ounces, which are both ways to measure how much liquid we have. This is important, especially for gardening, where we need to measure water for our plants!

Let’s start with what a liter is. It’s a unit of volume that we often use for liquids, like water. If you ever see a big bottle of soda, that’s usually about 1 liter.

Now, a fluid ounce is another way to measure liquid, but it’s smaller than a liter. In fact, 1 liter is equal to about 33.8 fluid ounces. That means if we want to know how many fluid ounces are in 4.5 liters, we can do a little bit of math.

To find out, we can multiply the number of liters by the number of fluid ounces in a liter:

$$
4.5 \text{ liters} \times 33.8 \text{ fluid ounces/liter} = 151.5 \text{ fluid ounces}
$$

So, 4.5 liters is the same as 151.5 fluid ounces! This is super useful to know when you’re filling up a watering can or measuring how much water to give your plants.

Here are 7 objects that would have the same amount of liquid as 4.5 liters or 151.5 fluid ounces:

  1. A large bottle of soda (2-liter bottle = 2 bottles = 4 liters)
  2. 3 standard-sized watering cans (each holds about 1.5 liters)
  3. 6 cups of water (1 cup = 8 fluid ounces, so 6 cups = 48 fluid ounces)
  4. A big pitcher that holds 4 liters of lemonade
  5. An average-sized bowl used for mixing ingredients (can hold about 1.5 liters)
  6. 2 quart-sized containers (1 quart = 32 fluid ounces, so 2 quarts = 64 fluid ounces)
  7. About 7 cans of soda (12 fluid ounces each, so 7 cans = 84 fluid ounces)

Now you know a bit about how measurements work and how to take care of your plants by measuring water correctly! Happy gardening! 🌱
