15 liters to gallons

Hey there! Today, we’re going to learn about how to convert a measurement we often use in gardening, which is liters, into gallons.

When you’re watering your plants or mixing up fertilizer, you might measure how much liquid you have in liters. But sometimes, we also want to know how many gallons that is, especially if you’re using a container that shows gallons.

Now, here’s a little math for you! To convert liters to gallons, we can use this simple fact:

1 liter is approximately equal to 0.264 gallons. So, if we want to know how many gallons are in 15 liters, we can multiply:

$$
15 \, \text{liters} \times 0.264 \, \text{gallons/liter} = 3.96 \, \text{gallons}
$$

This means that when you have 15 liters, it is almost 4 gallons!

Now, let’s think of some examples of things that would hold exactly 15 liters:

  1. A standard bucket for watering.
  2. A large watering can for your garden.
  3. A big tank for holding fish (like a fish tank).
  4. An ice chest filled with drinks.
  5. A 5-gallon paint bucket, filled about 3/4 full.
  6. A large bowl used for mixing soil.
  7. A small cooler for picnic drinks.

So next time you pour out 15 liters for your plants, you can imagine what’s happening with it in gallons too!
